Bringing back another Meet the Team Monday, this time with our newest hire Karina Sinha, our new software developer!

Question #1) What do you do at Petricore?

I am a software developer, working on some of the coolest games known to man. (Editor’s note: good answer.)

Question #2) Where did you grow up? Where did you go to school?

I grew up in Foxborough, MA. Go Patriots. Then I went to Northeastern University for my Masters in Game Design.

Question #3) What do you like to do outside work?

I guess videogames is the obvious answer, but I also enjoy singing & sketching. I really enjoy singing/music and enjoy doing Karaoke. I also enjoy baking a lot.

Question #4) What is your favorite variety of bread?

Best Brioche Bread Recipe - How To Make Brioche Bread

Brioche bread, you can see that doughiness

Brioche, though I was torn between that and sourdough. But Brioche has that extra doughiness and sweetness so it wins.

Question #5) If you didn’t work in games or any kind of software anymore, what would you do instead?

I might want to work in the entertainment industry as a manager behind the scenes organizing things. I did tech/drama club in high school and always enjoyed that.

Question #6) What is your favorite, and then your least favorite chore to do?

My favorite chore is doing dishes. My least favorite is probably sweeping/vacuuming the floors.

Question #7) If you could travel forward in time, only once, and only for a fixed amount of time – how far forward in time would you want to go?

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers (Video Game) - TV Tropes

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon

I’d do like 20 years, just to see how things are going. By then I’m hoping we’d have our act together on things like Climate change, so that would be good to know. I wouldn’t want to go too far into the future in case we don’t, or Nuclear war breaks out.

Question #8) What are some of your favorite games?

I like the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series, and especially the second set of them – but I love them all. I also like Danganronpa, The Zero Escape Saga, and Magia Record on my phone. Also can’t forget about Mario Kart (Wii Specifically.)

Question #9) What made you want to become a game developer?

When I was in the 7th grade as part of a tech class we had to make a game in the scratch game engine, so I decided to remake a pokemon mystery dungeon game. I spent every waking moment I could working on it. I got to try to recreate the sprites from google images, and play around with the engine. Over time I learned more programming and joined the robotics team, and it all just started to align that I would go into games.

Question #10) If you had to live in the fantasy world of a movie, tv show, game, etc. what world would you want to live in?

I’d go with BBC’s Merlin, most of the series takes place in the past, and I really think magic as a concept is really cool and I’d love to live in a world with magic. I could do without the magical guy trying to kill everyone though.

Question #11) What’s a hidden talent/hobby of yours people might not know about?

Love Live! Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Doukoukai - MyAnimeList.net

Love Live! Anime

I’m good at rhythm games.

Question #12) What’s some of your favorite TV shows/movies?

I’d mentioned Merlin, I also really enjoy an anime called Love Live! I’m not a big movie watcher, but I did enjoy Inception when it first came out.

Question #13) Okay, it’s the last question. What’s some universal advice you would give to the person reading this blog post?

Nothing in life is black and white. Unless you’re playing the piano tiles game.
