Meet the Team Monday

Joshua LaFrance, Junior Programmer

We’re excited to have Joshua LaFrance joining the team as a Junior Programmer! We sat down with him to ask some questions, so you can get to know the newest member of the Petricore team.

Question #1) What do you do at Petricore?

I currently assist the other programmers at Petricore on their projects, I’ve been also getting the chance to take on some of the smaller interactives myself, which has been a lot of fun.

Question #2) What are you most excited about working on?

I really like working on DogFight, Petricore’s latest in-development game. I like the fact that it’s early enough that my thoughts and ideas can help shape the project, and I’m excited to see where it goes.

Question #3) What do you like to do outside work?

I actually really enjoy playing terrible games, and watching bad movies. I also enjoy watching Football, and my favorite team is the Buffalo Bills. I also continue to attend classes at Becker College, while working full-time at Petricore.

Question #4) What’s your favorite rain-themed smell?

Wet dog. (not really…)

Question #5) Your go-to snack that should be in the Petricore office from now on?

Slim Jims

Question #6) Where did you go to school?

I graduated from Franklin High School in Franklin, New Hampshire. From there I attended NHTI in Concord, NH where I received my associates in Game Programming. I’m currently attending Becker College, in Worcester, MA for a Bachelors in Game Programming with a Minor in Computer Information Systems.

Question #7) Why did you want to become a programmer?

I didn’t want to be a programmer at first, I wanted to be a designer. I was a little up in the air early on, and just knew I wanted to work in games. As I started learning more programming I realized that I really enjoyed graphics programming, and wanted to specialize in that. Slowly I’ve become more general though, and I like the fact that a lot of the game development is programming so I can contribute a lot to the game design that way.

Question #8) Favorite Game?

Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion is my favorite. I also really enjoy Mortal Kombat and any Mario & Zelda games.

Question #9) What’s something you’d want people to remember you for?

That I made people laugh

Question #10) Where are we going to eat when you win a board game at the end of the month?

The Sole Proprietor in Worcester
